As electric vehicles become more popular and people’s awareness of environmentally friendly travel continues to deepen, the demand for charging facilities is increasing day by day. When faced with the choice of charging piles, factors such as charging speed and power have become the focus of many people’s consideration.
In terms of cost, the installation cost of a 21KW AC charging pile is much higher than that of a 7KW and 14KW AC charging pile, which is largely due to the increase in charging power.
With a 21KW AC charging pile, an electric car can be fully charged in just 2 to 3 hours. In comparison, a 7KW and 14KW AC charging pile takes 7 to 8 hours and about 5 hours, respectively.
When talking about AC charging piles, we must talk about its core component – the main control board, which is the key to determining the charging efficiency of the charging pile.
The main board of the 21KW AC charging pile can be called the “efficiency king” among the AC charging pile main boards. When facing large currents, the line loss is lower and the charging efficiency is higher. It not only speeds up the charging speed, but also helps to reduce the charging cost, making charging more economical.
First, consider whether you can apply for a 380V meter, that is, a three-phase meter, because the rated power of the 21KW AC charging pile main board is 21KW, the working voltage is three-phase AC 380V, and the output current is 32A.
Second, consider the power of the AC charging motor equipped with new energy vehicles.
At present, the models equipped with 21KW AC chargers are mainly Porsche Taycan, Tesla S, Tesla X, etc.; the models equipped with 14KW AC chargers are GAC Toyota ix4, BYD Han, etc.; the models equipped with 7KW AC chargers are Wenjie, Xiaopeng, Zeekr, Ideal, Aion, etc.
The charging power of electric vehicles is mainly determined by the power of the on-board AC machine carried by the vehicle itself. For example, even if a 21KW AC charger is used for charging, the charging power of a car equipped with a 7KW AC charger is still 7KW.
Therefore, if you plan to buy a home charging pile, you can buy 7KW DC or 7KW AC if there is only 220V household electricity at home (don’t consider AC charging piles if the slow charging port is only 16A); if there is three-phase electricity at home, directly consider DC charging piles above 15KW, such as the Honor Edition 20KW of Likr only costs 3999 yuan, which is actually almost the same price as the 21KW AC charging pile, with only a difference of a few hundred yuan! (Previously, the average price of a 21KW AC charging pile was around 2200-3000 yuan, and the average price of a 21KW DC charging pile was around 5000-6500 yuan. The DC charging pile was almost twice as expensive as the AC charging pile)
